Soroptimist Club of San Marino, San Marino
This year again, despite the difficulties imposed by the global pandemic, the Soroptimists of San Marino are actively participating in the events organized at institutional level by the Republic of San Marino throughout the Orange Campaign!
In joining the SI campaign “Orange the World”, the Soroptimist Club of San Marino requested and obtained the orange lighting of one of the Three Towers of San Marino, emblem of the ancient freedom of the country.
This year in particular, the Club is committed in developing the project of “A room for you”, which will be set up at its own expense at the Police Headquarters of San Marino: a “room” that can welcome in a more serenely way women victims of violence, especially during the filling of complaints which can be a tense moment.
Since the creation of the “room” is still going on and because of the current sanitary measures, it will not be possible to inaugurate it in the near future. The Soroptimists are planning to organize a press conference during the 16 Days of Activism to present the project, together with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Police Command, under the supervision of the Equal Opportunities Authority. The Police Corps and the Soroptimists are committed, in compliance with the Istanbul Convention, to promote educational and training initiatives to encourage sharing of experiences and exchange of best practices in the protection of women victims of violence.
