Every four years Soroptimist International of Europe organises a Congress to highlight the past two biennia, celebrate the work of our clubs and promote friendships and better contact among members. We are extremely pleased to invite you and your club members to join us in Florence for the 21st SIE Congress from 14-16 July 2017. The motto of this important event in the Soroptimist calendar is “Own the Future: Education, your passport to a better life”.
If you have never attended one of these SIE Congresses, you are missing a unique opportunity to experience high-level talks and panel discussions on matters of relevance to women today. This year’s event boasts inspirational speakers on matters of leadership, STEM careers and the environment. The Theme Sessions will focus on “Shattering the crystal ceiling” and “Women in green: renewable energy, clean technologies and best practices”. Participants will also have the chance to learn more about particularly successful SIE projects of the two biennia, which will be of benefit to your own efforts at local level, and about the highly popular Open Heart, Open Door programme.
For the first time ever, we have opened the Congress to young women pursuing studies or careers in STEM. We are excited by the prospect of providing these young women with networking possibilities as well as familiarising them with our organisation. Needless to say, there will also be time to enjoy Florence and see the sights. But perhaps the biggest advantage of this weekend is the fact that you can meet like-minded Soroptimists from all over the Federation!
