Grant of Friendship

Dear Soroptimists,

Northwestern Region of Soroptimist International of the Americas, which includes Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Montana and the Idaho panhandle, is offering a Grant of Friendship to one or two Soroptimists or a Soroptimist and her partner from outside the United States. The Grant is for a 2-3 week period beginning in April 2012. This Grant will include the Soroptimist Northwestern Region Conference, April 29 through May 1, 2012 in Spokane, Washington. Visitors will be responsible for their own travel expenses to and from the United States. Lodging, meals, hospitality and travel between clubs will be provided by the Region. Spoken English is required. Interested Soroptimists should request an application by April 1, 2011.

8th European meeting and frienship days "The power of Optimisme" October 15th 2010

The five Spanish Clubs working together have great pleasure in inviting all our Soroptimist sisters to come along and participate in this event to be held in Mijas, a typical white village set in the hills above the blue Mediterranean. This land of the Alhambra in Granada and Pablo Picasso’s birthplace in Malaga, promises warm weather and an even warmer Andalucian welcome.

2010 International youth croisière

The Austrian Union is pleased to announce the 2010 international Youth Croisière from 3rd-17th July. This SI/E event gives 12 Young people between the ages of 16 and 20 the opportunity to tour parts of Austria and enjoy true Soroptimist hospitality and friendship. Participants can be children, nieces and nephews or just friends of Soroptimists.

The hosting Clubs will cover accomodation, boardm admission fees as well as travels between clubs. However, travel expenses to and from Austria (Vienna is the point of arrival/departure) will be at the expense of participants. They also will be responsible for any medical/dental expenses during the visit. Spoken English is required.

Applications should be in English and include the applicant's background and affiliation with soroptimists, as well as occupation (if applicable), interests and favourite leisure activities. Please also mention reasons for wishing to visit Austria and wether the applicant has already received a friendship grant .

Apart from postal and emails addresses and the home telephone number, please also submita recent photograph. Deadline  for receipt of applications is 31st March 2010. Preference will be given to first-time applicants.

Opening Ceremony of Balat Culture House

Dear Soroptimist Sisters,

We will be very glad if you could join us in the opening ceremony of Balat Culture House on the 17th June 2010 in Istanbul, which will be honoured by the attendance of SI President Hanne Jensbo and SI/E President Eliane Lagasse. Balat Culture House is one of the biggest Projects of Turkish Soroptimists, which is restoring a ruin house into a Soroptimist Culture House. Given the vast range of skills and other competencies which can be developed in women, our mission is to train them, such as teaching them professional cooking, running our own Soroptimist Cafe by the products of our Culinary Institute, opening several art exhibitions and organising different activities. We look forward to seeing you in Istanbul and share our joy with all of you.

SI Club Versailles

Dear Friends,

My club of VERSAILLES organize in June (17-18-19th) a friendship weekend with its sister clubs. It will be very interesting for us to meet us together at this moment. If you are free and if you wish, it's necessary reserving your room very quickly. Friday afternoon, we will visit the beautiful Monet's garden in GIVERNY (near Rouen). Saturday morning, we can take a quick time together to think about our Soroptimist work. Then it will be possible for you to assist at the different spectacles of Versailles. The Castle of Versailles is a very great tourist attraction. Sunday, we will visit Paris and take our lunch together. I am looking forward to seeing you in France.
