SI Best Practice Projects

SI Best Practice Projects

The SI Best Practice Awards are given annually to acknowledge projects of excellence planned and carried out by Soroptimists all over the world.

Each year the theme for the awards changes to reflect the wide variety of work done.
For the next three years we want to ‘focus on the Focus’ ! There are ten Programme Focus Objectives for the present Quadrennium and focusing on these over the next three years will celebrate the wide variety of projects we do. More info >>

  • 2008-2009 will focus on objectives 1-4
  • 2009-2010 will focus on objectives 5-7
  • 2010-2011 will focus on objectives 8-10

This year the projects awarded will reflect work done on the following objectives:
1. ‘Eliminate poverty and gender discrimination through ensuring women’s full social and economic rights’
2. ‘End human trafficking and all forms of violence against women and girls’
3. ‘Ensure access to health care for women and girls’
4. ‘Support programmes and policies that eliminate HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis and other major diseases’

The criteria for SI/E Best Practice Awards

SI/E Best Practice Award 2009

Dear Presidents and Programme Liaison Officers,

During our last Board meeting, the Programme Team suggested to honour great SI/E projects with Best Practice Awards as a gesture of appreciation and encouragement for our clubs.
We would like the Unions/Single Clubs to conduct a pre-selection of those projects which you consider the most successful and inspiring in your Union or Single Club.

Requirements for nominations:
- UNIONS: a maximum of TWO projects for each of the 10 objectives (total max. 20 projects). Please do not feel obliged to nominate for each objective.
- SINGLE CLUBS: Please decide on ONE project to be nominated

Please send the nominations in PFR format and you may add ONE picture.

I am attaching the criteria which we will use for our final selection for your information and consideration. The SIE Programme Team will then use your nominations as the basis for the final selection. ONE award for each objective (a total of ten) will finally be presented during the Governors’ Meeting in Amsterdam.

Please send your nominations to Suba Parthiban at the SI/E HQ with cc to me. The deadline for your submissions will be 31st March 2009.

I hope that this new initiative will encourage and inspire our members to get involved in even more innovative projects.

With warm regards,
Ulrike Neubert
SIE Programme Liaison Officer
