Disaster Grants

Soroptimist Disaster Grants

Soroptimist Disaster Grants target the special needs of women and girls during and after disasters. The Disaster Grant is a joint project between SIA and SI/E. Clubs and Unions from both federations are eligible to apply for grants of up to 15,000 € to aid women and girls to recover from disasters.

Due to the often unexpected nature of disasters, there is often the desire to offer immediate help. Our recommendation, though, is to plan sustainable projects offering long term assistance, including rebuilding businesses and community revitalization.

To apply for grants, applications are made by submitting a narrative of the project. Applications can be submitted to the respective headquarters at any time throughout the year. More specifically, the application will describe the administration of the project, how it will be sustained, the expected outcomes and how they will be measured. It also must include a detailed budget. Applications for grants exceeding 7,500 € will undergo more extensive examination. If grant requests are accepted, the applicant will be contacted by the appropriate federation with a letter and contract. A report will follow the project due upon completion or six months from time of notification, whichever comes first.
