Soroptimist International is a recognised NGO and as such is active in many international and regional organisations.

Soroptimist International is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with general consultative status at the United Nations (UN).

![]() | Soroptimist International works together with other NGO's and various United Nations agencies, to promote the changes necessary to make the world a better place for this and future generations. SI is represented on the Board of the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations (CONGO) and has General Consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council, ECOSOC. By right of General Consultative Status with ECOSOC, SI has applied for and been granted, official relations with United Nations Specialised Agencies including:

![]() | Soroptimist International has permanent, volunteer representatives to the major United Nations centres in New York, Geneva and Vienna, UNESCO in Paris, the FAO in Rome, and UNEP in Nairobi. It also currently has representatives at the UN Regional Commissions in Western Asia (ESCWA); South America (ECLAC); and Asia Pacific (ESCAP). These representatives attend a broad range of meetings and committees, report back to the membership and make recommendations for the Soroptimist Programme Focus. Soroptimists are present as accredited delegates at NGO Forums at most major International and UN Forums and Summits, where the issues directly affect women. Statements are prepared outlining Soroptimist concerns and recommendations for action are made in relation to the issues under discussion. The SI Programme Team produces brochures to distribute to other delegates (both government and other NGO's) outlining the Soroptimist position on the issues that are the focus of the particular meeting. SI/E as a NGO
Soroptimist International of Europe has representatives with participatory status at the Council of Europe (CoE), in Strasbourg, is a member of the European Women's Lobby (EWL), in Brussels and is represented at the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), in Vienna.
Council of Europe (CoE)
SI/E is represented in the INGO Conference of the Council of Europe. The representative attends the four annual sessions and puts forward the Soroptimist position on the various relevant issues. Please see the quarterly reports on the sessions:

Unions, Single Clubs and clubs undertaking projects pertinent to Council of Europe topics are requested to inform their representative accordingly.
European Women's Lobby (EWL)
The European Women's Lobby (EWL) is the largest umbrella organisation of women's associations in the European Union. It currently has 2500 member organisations in 30 European countries, one of which is SI/E. The EWL aims at promoting women's rights and gender equality in the EU.
Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)
SI/E is also represented at the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), which is the world's largest regional security organisation whose 56 participating countries span the geographical area from Vancouver, Canada and Vladivostok, Russia.
The OSCE is focused on three dimensions: politico-military, economic and environmental, and human.
