SI/E Board

The SI/E Federation Board consists of the President, four Vice Presidents, the Immediate Past President, the President-elect, the Treasurer, and the Secretary General. These elected officials hold a term of office of two years, referred to as a biennium. The Board deals with the Federation’s current business, with its main functions including:

  • Preparing and submitting matters in issue for decision or approval by the Council of Governors;
  • Discussing yearly financial statements and provisional budgets;
  • Approving the agenda of the Governors’ meeting;
  • Carrying out the decision of the Council of Governors;
  • Approving the programme and the budget of a Congress;
  • Proposing candidates for consultants to the Voting Members, and other candidates for Soroptimist International offices.

The Constitution and By-Laws Committee interprets the federation’s Constitution and By-Laws, initiates amendments, drafts proposed amendments, studies, and comments on and propose amendments to the Constitution of Soroptimist international, whenever required to do so. This Committee is led by the Chairperson who is assisted by her two Committee Representatives:

The Extension Committee promotes the founding of Soroptimist Clubs and provides guidance for Unions pertaining to the founding of Clubs within their territorial limits. This Committee consists of a Chairperson and two Representatives:

The Scholarship Committee oversees the allocations of funds to women pursuing their studies, that have an affiliation with a Soroptimist member or is a member herself. The Governors approve the suggestions this Committee makes This Committee is led by the Scholarship Chairperson and is assisted by two representatives:

The Finance Committee is represented by the Financial Controller who works out the yearly financial statement and the budget together with the Treasurer; she advises the Board on the management and the use of the Federation’s finances and funds examines and estimates the expected income and expenditures.

SI/E Appointees

The Public Relations Officer informs the public about the objects and purposes, the programme and the activities of the Federation; she develops monitors and revises all promotional material; oversees the outgoing development and maintenance of the website of the SI/E federation.

The Follow-Up Africa Appointee is responsible for the overall extension work within the Federation, and any extension work in countries where no Union has been formed within the territorial limits of the Federation. SI/E Headquarters

The Headquarters assures the continuity of SI/E’s work throughout all changes of presidential terms and supports the routine work of the officers of the Federation.
