Soroptimist Union of Sweden

As every year, the Union of Sweden is mobilising for the “Orange the World” campaign. However, the health crisis calls for greater flexibility and inventiveness. This is why the Union will offer three online conferences on 26, 30 November and 8 December for its members and any interested public, in order to mobilise and alert as many people as possible to the issue of violence against women and girls.

During these 16 days of activism, Swedish Soroptimist clubs will not be outdone and will be offering a variety of actions across the country. To name but a few, the club in Gothenburg, in partnership with Zonta International and UN Women, will deliver speeches and public lectures, distribute informative brochures and sell bright orange tassels. The clubs in Örebro-Wadköping, Landskrona, and Falun will organise colourful orange umbrella marches and events, while the club in Sotenäs will start making orange jams and jackets! Finally, Ystad’s water tower will be illuminated in orange, as will many public buildings across the country.

The money raised by the Union during this campaign will be used to support its RE-START project, which helps women and girls in shelters.
