Best Practice Awards

It’s never an easy task but each year a number of exceptional projects conducted by Soroptimists over the course of the previous year are selected as the winners of the Soroptimist International of Europe Best Practice Awards! 

These outstanding projects are singled out for their relevance, impact, successful implementation, and long-term viability.

All, naturally, have as their foremost purpose the concrete and lasting improvement of the lives of women and girls.

The 2016 Best Practice Awards winners are:

PROJECT OF THE YEAR 2016!

Soroptimist International Club of Antananarivo Mandrosoa (Madagascar) and the Clubs of Luzern, Bad Ragaz, Vevey, Schwyz (Switzerland) for the project “Construction of an education centre and orphanage for street children in Antananarivo”

“EDUCATE TO LEAD” AWARD

Soroptimist International Club of Uelzen (Germany) for the project “STEM Camp for Girls – (Mint Camp Für Mädchen)” 

EDUCATION CATEGORY:

  • WINNER:  Soroptimist International Union of Italy for the project “Education to gender diversity”
  • RUNNER UP: Soroptimist International Club of Bamberg-Kunigunde (Germany) for the project “Learning is fun - rapid and non-bureaucratic assistance”

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT CATEGORY

  • WINNER: Soroptimist International Club of Merate (Italy) for the project “Empowering Bollate's Female Convicts”
  • RUNNER UP: Soroptimist International Club of Haarlem (Netherlands) for the project “Microcredit for Mothers”

ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN CATEGORY

  • WINNER: Soroptimist International Union of Turkey for the project “Evolution workshop”
  • RUNNER UP: Soroptimist International Club of Münster-Mauritz (Germany) for the project “Pro filia: save Nepalese girls from trafficking and help them chose their own way of life’”

HEALTH CATEGORY

  • WINNER: Soroptimist International Club of Estoril Cascais (Portugal) for the project “Handball and Health side by side’ (Andebol e Saúde lado a lado)”
  • RUNNER UP: Soroptimist International Club of Périgueux (France) for the project “Cami Help Association, Sport and Cancer” 

SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT CATEGORY

  • WINNER: Soroptimist International Club of Milano alla Scala (Italy) for the project “Milan, a woman-oriented city’”
  • RUNNER UP: Soroptimist International Club of Vannes (France) for the project “Scholarships awards 2015 for women farmers”
