SUMMARY:Conference at the Council of Europe - Shaping Democratic Renewal: Civic Space and the Path to a New Democratic Pact for Europe
DESCRIPTION:Following the 2023 Reykjavik Summit\, the Secretary General of the CoE issued a report in 2025\, Towards a New Democratic Pact for Europe.  The report highlights the urgency of protecting civil space and calls for stronger cooperation among member states and international organizations due to noted negative trends in democratic institutions. \nThe Conference in Strasbourg on 2-3 February is a high-level event promoting the ongoing programs to protect and monitor civil society as well as to seek new pathways toward the New Pact for Europe. There will 20 speakers over the course of the two days engaging in moderated panel discussions with audience participation.  The conference will be in English and French\, with interpretation provided.  There will also be a live stream of the events. \nThe link beneath will allow access to the Registration Form\, Concept Notes and the Conference website (where a programme of events for each day is provided\, as well as a map of the CoE). \nThese conferences are an excellent window into the actions of the CoE and how SIE participates as an international non-governmental organisation ensuring its goals are promoted at a very highest levels. \nWhere: In Strasbourg at the Council of Europe \nWhen: 2-3 February 2026 \n\nRegistration form (by 19 January 2026\, seats are limited)\nConcept note\nConference website\n\n
