Soroptimist Clubs of Vienna

Soroptimists in Vienna cooperated with other NGOs on a large Advocacy, VAW, and Mentoring initiative by hosting the event “Evolving beyond Trauma” as part of the Orange the World Campaign 2019.

The event that took place in the ballroom of the Ministry of Justice, included keynote speeches and a panel discussion on trauma of female victims of violence against women including domestic violence. This topic was addressed by a jury of internationally acclaimed experts who spoke openly about their personal, unfiltered stories and shared their knowledge and valuable insights into this complex topic.

It was an international event where women and men had their say. Methods were taught that help to process what has been experienced and to go on strengthened, not to hide and withdraw.

In addition to those affected, representatives of various organizations also spoke during the discussion: Louise Deininger, President and founder of GYCO that supports girls affected by violence in Africa; Sean McCarthy, Founder of TEDS Foundation, CEO of Tanka Solutions & Holistic Health Coach; Dr. Susanne Hölbfer, gynecologist and doctor within the victim protection group incorporated situations; Mag. Serani Siegel, OSCE project manager on gender violence, and Rania Mustafa Ali, internationally known for filming her exile from Syria to Europe.
