At an official ceremony in Frankfurt on 8 March 2017, Soroptimist International of Germany will present its 5th Soroptimist Prize to Sophia.T gGmbH for its proTechnicale project. proTechnicale is an orientation year for tech-savvy young women preparing for academic studies focusing on aerospace, renewables and philosophy. The eleven-month, gap-year course between high school graduation and university gives participants the opportunity to build up a network in industry and in the academic world. While the emphasis is on technical qualifications, the initiative also helps the young women with their personal development by linking technology with philosophy. The €20,000 endowment from SI Germany will finance a full scholarship and additional workshops in philosophy, rhetorical skills and improvisation theatre.

SI Germany’s Soroptimist Prize is presented biennially to mark the UN International Women’s Day on 8 March. It recognizes outstanding achievements by persons or organisations to improve the status of women.
