Dear Soroptimists,

The 63rd session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place at the UN in New York from 11 to 22 March 2019. The CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.

CSW63’s priority theme is: “Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girl” The review theme is: “Women’s empowerment and the link to sustainable development.”

Attending CSW63 is a unique and exciting opportunity, open to all Soroptimists, to network, learn about the critical issues affecting women today, and gain insight into the work of SIE and the United Nations. The SIE delegation is led by SIE President Renata Trottmann Probst and SIE Vice-President Advocacy Elizabeth Otieno Nyadwe.

If you would like to join, please fill out this questionnaire HERE by the 4th of November.

Since a limited number of passes are available, interested Soroptimists must fill the questionnaire to apply for a pass. For organizational purposes, kindly also let us know if you plan on being in New York the first or the second week of the CSW. For those attending for the first time, It is recommended to attend the first week as there will be a Forum Consultation Day, organized by NGO CSW on Sunday, 10 March 2018. Additionally, the SIE and SI receptions will take place during the first week.

Best regards,
