SI Club of Austurland, Iceland

For four years now, the Soroptimist Club of Austurland has organized an annual march during the 16 days of activism for the elimination of violence against women. In 2018, the march called the “Light March” began at the foot of the small blue church in the city of Seydifjordur.

On the occasion, the building was illuminated with orange, as is customary during this campaign. About fifty people, all dressed in orange, gathered to listen to the speech of the President of the Club, before setting off with orange balloons and torches in their hands. Just before the event, Soroptimist distributed oranges at the local supermarket to raise awareness of the 16 Days of Activism campaign and promote their annual march.

The Club of Austurland is already planning to renew the orange march for the “Orange the World” 2020 campaign!
