SI Club Kisumu, Kenya
In solidarity with the 16 Days of Activism for the Elimination of Violence against Women, SI Club Kisumu decided to use its Facebook page as a platform to raise awareness of this issue. Every day a member of the Kisumu Club sat in an orange chair to deliver a committed message on Gender Based Violence against Women around the world. For too long, silence, impunity and stigmatization have allowed this violence to spread. According to UN figures, one in three women is a victim of gender-based violence.
Club Kisumu’s action reached more than 5,000 people and increased its visibility and that of Soroptimist International of Europe.
