Dear Soroptimists,
Due to the unique circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, and the implications it has on CSW65, specifically that meetings will take place virtually, that there is no expectation of travel to UN headquarters in NY and that subsequently no CSW65 grounds passes will be issued, the limit of 20 approved representatives per ECOSOC accredited organization is not relevant and will not be in effect for CSW65. Please note that this removal of the approval limit is entirely unique and specific to the virtual CSW65 due to the impacts of COVID-19 and the virtual format of the meetings, and would not, in any way, create a precedent.
ECOSOC accredited NGOs will be able to observe the CSW65 meetings via live webcast on http://webtv.un.org/ which will be available in the six official UN languages and will have no restrictions on the number of viewers. Following the meetings via live webcast per se could also be done without registration in Indico. However, the main benefit of registration in the specific case of CSW65 is information sharing, as approved registrants will receive direct email communications about CSW-related activities and updates leading up to and during the session, social media packages, information and invitations for specific events, including side events, as well as possible opportunities available to engage more closely with other ECOSOC accredited NGOs, Member States, and UN entities.
For those who wish to register, the method of registration is the same as in previous years: register through the Indico platform, and the Conference Focal Point of SIE (SIEHQ) would then approve your registrations.
