Soroptimist Union of Germany

A campaign, such as that of Orange the World, is prepared well in advance and the Soroptimists of the Union of Germany have fully understood this. During the summer of 2020, they met four times to organise the participation of each club and define the objectives of the event. This year, it seemed essential to raise awareness among the German public of the importance of the Istanbul Convention and its application. Soroptimists also wish to show strong support for shelters, local women’s advice centres, and telephone helplines such as the Federal Office for the Family.

Soroptimist Germany will provide flyers and posters to relay relevant information on violence against women. The visual material used this year will be the same as in 2019. It is indeed important for members to favour a sustainable approach, which also saves costs. German clubs are invited to replicate the “Beermat Campaign” project, which was developed by the SI Club Bad Nauheim, in order to show a uniform presence throughout the country. One hundred and seven of them completed a survey detailing their programme of action for the 16 days of activism. Obviously, a daily network campaign will complement all these initiatives.
