About this project To mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November,

SI Club Pardes Hanna-Karkur organised a public meeting in their town to draw attention to this widespread problem, which is also a key focus area for Soroptimists. Members contacted the advisor to the Mayor on women’s affairs, and local authorities worked with them on the event, as well as making funds available to rent a venue.

The evening began with a monodrama on the subject of domestic violence, based on a true story. After the performance the actor, who also runs workshops for violent men undergoing group therapy, discussed his work with the audience. Representatives from the municipality then outlined the various services and support they offer to victims of domestic violence. This was followed by a presentation by members of the police force.

The public meeting was a great success. In addition to strengthening ties with local authorities, the event also raised the profile of our organisation.
