Club members organised a number of public events and concerts (including a visit from US-based pop star ΝΑΥΣΙΚΑ) to support this project, working hand in hand with the Greek branch of SOS Children’s Villages.
This global NGO with a proven track record in providing infrastructure, educational facilities and counselling for vulnerable children and their parents will run the facility on its completion at the end of 2017. SI Club Heraklion will of course continue to take a keen interest in the development of the project.
In addition to providing access to education and a secure environment, there will be opportunities for the mothers of children using this facility to acquire new skills and find employment while their children are being looked after.
