Marcia, 20, is living in Zimbabwe. She lost her parents while she was a child. Her secondary education was financed by the Dzikwa Trust. Marcia is in her first year as a Law student and intends to specialise in Human Rights. She will work for the most vulnerable groups, such as township orphans and especially orphaned girls.

Tekla, 21, is a student in the 3rd year at the Medicine Faculty of Kutaisi State University. Going through the grief of recently losing her mother who supported her, she is now facing serious financial hardships. The SIE scholarship will enable her to continue her studies.

After six years of studying Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Maria, 25, applies for a SIE scholarship to be able to complete her PhD thesis in Virology. Relieved of the existing financial constraints, she will be able to concentrate on finalizing the thesis and move forward in her scientific career.

Marianna, 24, has a BSc. in Applied Mathematics. The scholarship will be for the last year of her MBA. Her plan is to use the skills and capabilities acquired through her MBA, her previous studies and her philanthropic work at the Child Protection Centre in Heraklion, to enter the field of social entrepreneurship.

Thuridur, 26, from Iceland, is a student at the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Slovakia, since there is no such faculty in her country. She is in her 4th year and will finish in spring 2021. Thuridur plans to use her knowledge and experience for the preservation of Iceland’s species and continuance of sustainable farming and food production.

Isabel Cristina, 28, is from Cuba. With a Master in Computer Science she worked as a lecturer of Digital Image Processing in Cuba. She is now in her last year as a PhD student in Computer Science and System Engineering in Italy where she is doing research on computational biology. She has no other funding.

Sophie, 49, a mother of four, is the only woman in Management of Information System in a class of over 45 PhD students. She is in her last year and wants to motivate other women and girls to pursue the ICT related courses. The PhD will enable her to become a full time lecturer in the IT field thus impacting more girls.

An international student in Canada, Yllka, 22, needs a grant to complete her penultimate year of study to obtain a double degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. After receiving a Scholarship grant from SIE in 2016, she has worked hard to earn a living and pay for continuing her studies.

Working full-time and studying, Valda, 28, is now completing her last year of a Master’s Degree in Professional Psychology. She has already gained practical skills in doing psychological counseling, testing and evaluation for both children and adults.

The scholarship will help her to study the introduction of innovative engineering technologies in animal husbandry in order to reduce the emission of ammonia from livestock farms, thus contributing to reducing air pollution.
