Register here for the Congress

The Congress plenary session is focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

In Europe by 2020 there will be a need for 1,300,000 people with technical skills: currently, women make up only 17% of the STEM workforce, greatly reducing women’s chances to change their lives.
STEM Expertise is also increasingly necessary in the green economy: from renewable energies to clean technologies and best practice. STEM offers the perfect link between current and past SIE biennia (2015-2017 and 2013-2015). This session is entitled ‘Inspirational women in STEM’.

The plenary STEM session is followed by two parallel theme sessions: ‘Breaking the glass ceiling’ and ‘Women in green: renewable energy, clean technologies and best practices’.  Both panel sessions will open with an introductory lecture.

The last (third) part of each session will be devoted to SIE pilot projects.  The last part of the ‘Shattering the crystal ceiling’ session is devoted to the leadership and mentoring programmes, with the aim of comparing the different models, favouring the exchange of ideas, and contributing to the definition of a new SIE working model.
The ‘Women in green’ projects session is dedicated to the most significant green projects from president Ulla Madsen’s biennium 2013-2015.
