A safe digital world is crucial for women and girls, enabling them to grow, share, and fully engage in the digital age. Ensuring their well-being must be a priority.

The 2024 ‘Read the Signs to Prevent Cyberviolence’ campaign strives to turn the vision of an inclusive digital space for women and girls into reality. Our focus is on raising awareness about the prevalence of cyberviolence, educating everyone to recognise its early signs and impact, promoting safe online navigation practices and advocating for stronger protective measures.

This initiative fosters an online environment where all voices, regardless of gender, are welcome. It empowers women and girls to interact, learn, and express themselves online without fear of harassment, abuse, or surveillance. We aim to equip women and girls with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage their privacy, identify risks, and report harmful behaviour effectively.

Soroptimists play a key role in preparing girls for the digital and AI age by:

  • Raising awareness on the widespread impact of cyberviolence on women and girls;
  • Educating everyone to navigate safely and to read the signs of cyberviolence;
  • Organising conferences or webinars;
  • Advocating for the improvement of the protective shield by tech companies;
  • Sharing best practices and informing about legal obligations of governments.

Through education and advocacy, Soroptimists work together to foster a safe digital world where women and girls are empowered, supported and valued, creating a community that respects their voices and experiences.

We encourage all Soroptimists to actively participate in the 2024 campaign ‘Read the Signs to Prevent Cyberviolence’, by sharing the Federation’s provided materials on social media. By amplifying our message, we can demonstrate that we are one global voice for women, standing together to fight cyberviolence. Let’s work collectively to raise awareness, advocate for change, and promote a culture where women and girls can engage freely without any threat of digital abuse.

Together, we can make a powerful impact.
