Campaigning Against Cyberviolence: SI Club Wratislavia’s Initiative

Violence against women and children remains one of society’s most persistent taboos, often hidden behind shame and silence.

In 2024, the Wratislavia Club took action to confront cyberviolence, a growing and often misunderstood form of abuse, through a dedicated awareness and engagement campaign. The goal was clear: help people recognise violence, speak openly about it, and know how to respond.

Why This Campaign Matters

Empowering women to live lives of dignity, joy, and self-determination is central to the Wratislavia Club’s mission. While public awareness of violence has improved thanks to many organisations, too many victims remain unseen. Our campaign aimed to reach those voices that had not yet been heard.

Three Pillars of the Initiative

  1. Educational Workshop – Club members participated in “Cyberviolence? Spare Me,” an interactive workshop combining lectures with role-playing scenarios that addressed grooming, sharenting, and digital hygiene.
  2. Social Media Films – Five educational films were shared online, each illustrating a different form of cyberviolence and providing guidance on how to respond.
  3. Public Engagement in Wrocław – A street event invited the public to reflect on the reality of cyberviolence through recorded personal stories, empty chairs symbolising support, and orange shoes representing empathy and courage.

Impact and Reflections

While engaging passers-by posed challenges, the campaign succeeded in raising awareness, sparking conversations, and integrating the message into Wrocław’s wider community. By making cyberviolence more visible, the Wratislavia Club contributed to a safer, more informed society.

Breaking the silence around violence, online or offline, is a crucial step toward empowering women and children. The Wratislavia Club’s 2024 campaign stands as a testament to the power of awareness, action, and community.
