International Women’s Day 2026: Women Driving Progress

Celebrating Women’s Achievements

On International Women’s Day 2026, Soroptimist International Europe puts women’s achievements at the centre of global progress. For years, we have demonstrated why this day remains urgent and indispensable. This year, we make one message unmistakably clear: women’s power drives progress in every sphere of life. Empowering women is not a symbolic gesture; it is a strategic investment in the future.

Women’s Impact Across History

History teaches us that women have always shaped science, the arts, economics, diplomacy, and politics, far more profoundly than traditional narratives have acknowledged. New research continues to uncover what was overlooked or deliberately minimised: women have driven transformation, innovation, and social stability across generations.

The evidence is unequivocal. When women participate equally in negotiations, agreements are more durable. Peace processes are stronger. Communities are more resilient.

Standing Firm for Women’s Rights

At a time when women’s rights are being restricted and rolled back in many parts of the world, Soroptimists stand firm. We claim, without hesitation, the transformative power of women. Women are not beneficiaries of progress – they are its architects.

Advancing women’s leadership means advancing democracy, stability, prosperity, and peace. A better world for women is a better world for all.

Bringing the Campaign to Life

SIE Members are invited to actively bring the “Why It Matters – Women Driving Progress” campaign to life by making it visible across their communities and networks. Share the theme widely through local events, discussions, and partnerships. Use the official campaign materials, adapt them to your national context, and actively engage on social media by sharing the scheduled campaign posts, using the campaign hashtags, and encouraging interaction across your networks.

By amplifying women’s achievements in peacebuilding, STEM, sustainability, education, and justice, each member strengthens our collective voice, expands the campaign’s reach and helps inspire meaningful and lasting action.
