The Mentoring Task Force under the leadership of SIE Vice President Verena von Tresckow-Bronke has made great strides in establishing a common approach to mentoring within SIE. The Mentoring Handbook and additional presentations are now available for all Soroptimists who are interested in introducing mentoring programmes in their own Union or Single Club. Mentoring is not only an excellent tool for furthering the objectives of SIE to educateempower and enable women and girls, but also an effective and a rewarding way to share knowledge, skills and values. As many existing programmes demonstrate, mentoring can also be a means of recruiting new members!

In the meantime nearly all of the Unions and many of the Single Clubs in our Federation have appointed a mentoring coordinator. She will act as a link between SIE, and more specifically the Mentoring Task Force, and her respective Union or Single Club.

Three mentoring webinars in English and French were held in January and February 2019. The topics of these informative sessions were “SIE Mentoring in General”,  “All about Mentees”, and “How to be a Good Mentor and How to Run a Mentoring Programme”. The webinar presentations can also be found in the Member Area of the SIE website.

Members of the Mentoring Task Force will be available at the Governors’ Meeting in Zagreb to answer questions and advise members how to get started with a mentoring programme.
