The 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will take place at the UN in New York from 12 to 23 March 2018. The CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.

CSW62’s priority theme is: “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls.” The review theme is: “Participation in and access of women to the media, and information and communications technologies and their impact on and use as an instrument for the advancement and empowerment of women.”

Attending CSW62 is a unique and exciting opportunity, open to all Soroptimists, to network, learn about the critical issues affecting women today, and gain insight into the work of SIE and the United Nations. The SIE delegation is led by SIE President Renata Trottmann Probst and SIE Special Advisor for CSW62 Kathy Kaaf.

If you would like to join, please fill out this questionnaire by Wednesday, 30 November.

Since a limited number of passes are available, interested Soroptimists must fill the questionnaire to apply for a pass. Participants will be chosen on past advocacy/lobbying experience, networking skills, and more. Successful applicants will be notified by mid-December.

It is recommended to attend the first week as there will be a Forum Consultation Day, organized by NGO CSW on Sunday, 11 March 2018. Additionally, the SIE and SI receptions will take place during the first week.
