Violence Against Women
For over a century, Soroptimists have been dedicated to eliminating violence against women and girls and ensuring their participation in conflict resolution.
Around the world, we execute projects that respond to, prevent, and eradicate gender-based violence. These initiatives are carried out in collaboration with local and national governments, policymakers, and partner institutions. They include building shelters, aiding victims, providing counselling services, lobbying for stronger prevention programmes and policies, and raising public awareness.
Since 2022, our “READ THE SIGNS” campaign, launched during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, has focused on recognising early warning signs of toxic or aggressive behaviour. This empowers not only potential victims, but also family, friends, and communities to take action and offer support.
In 2024, we took the campaign further by addressing the growing threat of cyberviolence, highlighting the urgent need for digital safety, awareness, and support systems to protect women and girls online.
