"Meaningful change begins with care; for people, for shared values, and for the responsibilities we choose to carry. Acting with integrity and respect, even when the path is demanding, is at the heart of how I understand leadership and service. For me, Soroptimism represents the commitment to stand by our values and translate them into responsible action."
What is your personal motivation for serving on the SIE Board 2026-2027?
It comes from a strong sense of responsibility toward the organisation and its mission. Soroptimist has always represented thoughtful leadership, solidarity across borders, and action rooted in values. Serving on the SIE Board is an opportunity for me to contribute at a European level, to support clubs and Unions, and to help ensure that our work remains relevant and impactful in a changing world.
What is your vision for a better world?
My vision of a better world is one in which women and girls are empowered to shape their own lives with dignity, security, and opportunity. This requires not only strong policies and advocacy, but also long-term commitment, cooperation, and mutual respect.
For this biennium, my aim is to support strengthening collaboration within Soroptimist International of Europe and help translate our shared values into concrete action that creates real benefits for women and girls.
What do you do to stay motivated in your work?
I stay motivated by remaining closely connected to people, to purpose, and to the values that guide Soroptimist’s work. Meaningful dialogue, collaboration across countries, and learning from different perspectives give me both energy and clarity. When challenges or disappointments arise, I take time for reflection and see them as part of responsible leadership and long-term commitment. The strength of the Soroptimist network, its solidarity, professionalism, and shared dedication to women and girls, is a constant source of motivation and resilience for me.

What is your country doing to support and empower women?
Denmark has a strong foundation for gender equality, supported by public policies, welfare structures, and an active civil society. Women benefit from high access to education, participation in the labour market, and social security systems that support work–life balance. At the same time, Denmark is increasingly acknowledging that equality requires continuous attention, particularly in areas such as leadership, labour market segregation, health, and safety.
A significant and very welcome development in 2025 has been the national focus on women’s health. The establishment of a National Centre for Research in Women’s Health marks an important step toward addressing long-standing gaps in medical research and healthcare provision for women. This initiative recognises that women’s health has historically been under-researched and signals a commitment to improving prevention, diagnosis, and treatment across the life course. For me, this reflects a broader understanding that empowerment also means being seen, heard, and properly cared for within our healthcare systems.
Tell us about your Soroptimist club! What projects are you most proud of?
SI Horsens is an active club with strong local engagement and a clear sense of global responsibility.
At local level, the club supports women in vulnerable situations through cooperation with the Women’s Shelter (Krisecenter), providing access to legal guidance. The club also collaborates with Mødrehjælpen (The Mothers’ Aid Foundation), a Danish organisation that supports mothers in difficult life situations, including those experiencing social or financial hardship. These partnerships reflect the club’s commitment to responding to real needs within the local community.
Internationally, the club is committed to a long-term project in Moldova, supporting a family in which four girls are being raised by their grandparents. This ongoing support reflects the club’s belief in sustained responsibility rather than time-limited assistance. In addition, the club supports the Danish Union Soroptimist project “Moving the World to End Hunger”, contributing to global efforts to reduce food insecurity. Through this engagement, the club aligns local action with international goals and the UN Sustainable Development Agenda.
What makes Soroptimist International Horsens special is its ability to combine compassion with professionalism, and local action with global responsibility. The club’s work is guided by shared values and a strong commitment to translating Soroptimist principles into concrete, responsible action.
