SI Greece

As part of the latest 16 Days of Activism campaign for the elimination of violence against women, members of the Greek Union have launched actions to raise awareness among their fellow citizens. Despite the laws in place to protect women, this is not enough. The problem persists and is exacerbated by the economic problems that the country has been facing since 2008. In order to draw attention to their message, the Greek Soroptimists had the slogan NO VIOLENCE printed on orange umbrellas. In addition, the Clubs responded to the call launched by their Union by carrying out actions to illuminate public buildings in orange, distributing flyers, forming human chains and organizing conferences and plays. The message carried by the Soroptimists was even broadcast on Greek television to as many people as possible.
